Arlington’s affordable housing stock has increased by 73 units with the APAH replacement of 22 garden apartments with a 15-story, 231-unit tower, with seven townhomes at its base. Forty percent of the units (95) are affordable housing, and 143 units are now on the market as rentals at market-rates. The 95 affordable units include six efficiencies, 55 one-bedrooms, 26 two-bedrooms, five three-bedrooms, and three three-bedroom townhomes. Five units are fully accessible to physically disabled persons. Residents must meet income requirements of no more than 60% of Area Median Income, among other requirements. The ground breaking ceremony took place on February 8, 2007. The project was recently completed in Summer 2008 and a grand opening is planned for October 16th.
