Development in Rosslyn is guided by County adopted principles. Along with zoning regulations, the Rosslyn Sector Plan is the over-arching document that serves as the basis for all development in Rosslyn. Information on zoning map and guidance documents is found on our County Links page.
By-Right Development
Projects that follow zoning regulations typically do not require Arlington County Board approval and are developed “by-right."
The Site Plan Review Development Process
Most projects reviewed by the Rosslyn Renaissance Urban Design Committee deviate from what is permitted by the zoning regulations. These proposals must proceed through the “Site Plan” process and are required to undergo the County’s formal “Site Plan Review,” requiring approval by the Arlington County Board. The County’s Site Plan Brochure illustrates the steps of this process.
