Rosslyn’s Heavy Seas Alehouse recently hired two talented staff to join their team. Marc Kennedy takes on a key role in the kitchen as chef de cuisine and Keith Kirkland is the new general manager.
With 25 years of experience that includes more than 13 years as executive chef at McCormick & Schmick’s, Marc Kennedy (pictured) will help ensure the Alehouse experience is as much about food as it is about beer.
“I'm excited to be working with Chef Matt Seeber to develop a food culture that focuses on cooking from scratch and has deep ties to our region’s agriculture and fisherman,” says Kennedy.
Relying on seasonal ingredients and putting a unique spin on traditional alehouse fare, the Heavy Seas menu will include such offerings as spicy beer nuts with a cutlass amber syrup and a soft pretzel with blue crab imperial. Other dishes will feature wild striped bass, game, local oysters and house-made fresh pasta.
New General Manager Keith Kirkland (pictured) comes to Heavy Seas from Mad Fox Brewing Company, where he developed an extensive knowledge of craft beer and led the restaurant to win a “Best of Falls Church” award in 2012 and 2013. With more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kirkland will develop and oversee operations and employees in partnership with Director of Operations Vince Cassino.
