ROSSLYN, VA – The Rosslyn Business Improvement District and its sister organization Rosslyn Renaissance regretfully announce the weather cancellation of the 18th Annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 6 from 12:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gateway Park. There is no rain date.
Predicted high winds and drenching rain from Tropical Storm Hanna forced the call by the Jazz Festival team, which includes representatives from the Rosslyn BID, Rosslyn Renaissance, Arlington Cultural Affairs, Arlington Police Department, and Arlington Parks and Recreation. While alternate indoor locations were considered, the safety of those attending the event ultimately forced the first –ever cancellation of this 18 year-old Rosslyn tradition.
Rosslyn BID and Rosslyn Renaissance Executive Director Cecilia Cassidy shares the disappointment. “It was a particularly hard call, considering the loyal Jazz Festival goers who come back year after year,” she said. “But in the end, we had to put the safety of the performers, workers, and attendees first. We look forward to presenting our very popular festival next year.”
The Rosslyn BID appreciates the support of co-sponsor Arlington County Cultural Affairs and media sponsors, Jazz Times Magazine, WPFW Radio, and Arlington Independent Media.
