“Rooms With A View” Lecture Series to  Debut its 20th Season at Artisphere

Rosslyn Renaissance Hosts Open Rehearsal with Washington Shakespeare Company (WSC)

Rosslyn, Va. – January 20, 2011 – Rosslyn Renaissance will kick off its 2011 lecture series -- “Rooms With a View” -- on Thursday, January 27 with a reception and open rehearsal of Washington Shakespeare Company’s (WSC) upcoming production of “Juno and the Paycock”. The event will be held at Artisphere, Arlington’s new arts and cultural center that opened on 10/10/10.

The Rooms With A View lecture series celebrates its 20th year this season, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of host organization Rosslyn Renaissance, which plans for the urban design and development of the greater Rosslyn area. The Rooms With A View series gives attendees access to some of Rosslyn's most highly regarded interior spaces, with breathtaking views of Washington, and fosters interesting discussions on various facets of the area. A combination networking, food and libations event, each Rooms lecture features an important issue facing the region or highlights activities of a Rosslyn-based organization.

“We can think of no better way to open our 20th annual Rooms With A View lecture series than at Artisphere with WSC, one of the area’s most accomplished theatre companies,” said Cecilia Cassidy, executive director of Rosslyn Renaissance and the Rosslyn BID. “While not your typical lecture, there is much to enjoy and learn from an art performance such as this. We think participants will be delighted with this unique opportunity to see Artisphere’s resident theatre company in action.”

All are welcome to join Rosslyn Renaissance for the opening reception in Artisphere’s Terrace Gallery and then watch WSC’s open rehearsal for “Juno and the Paycock” in the Dome Theater. The play will run in Artisphere’s Black Box Theatre from February 17 through March 20, 2011. This gorgeous tragedy by Sean O’Casey follows Captain Boyle, his long suffering wife Juno (the family’s breadwinner), his irascible drinking companion Joxer Daly, a daughter desperate to escape their world, and a son caught up in the struggle in events that followed the Irish Civil War.

The reception begins at 6:00 p.m.; the open rehearsal at 6:45 p.m., followed by a question and answer period. The event is free to attend but reservations are required. Please RSVP to: rsvp@rosslynva.org.
Artisphere is located at 1101 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn, one block from the Rosslyn Metro station.

Details of the remaining 2011 Rooms With A View lecture series will be available soon.
