Rosslyn BID Announces “I  the 90s” Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival


  

Rosslyn, VA - The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) rewinds to relive the 90s this spring and summer with 19 movies that celebrate the decade. The “I  the 90s” Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival celebrates a variety of 90s cinema including adventure, romance, comedy, sci-fi and even fantasy. Highlights include “Clueless”, “Wayne’s World”, “Bio-Dome”, “Home Alone”, “The Wedding Singer”, “Edward Scissorhands”, and many more.

The “I  the 90s” Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival schedule has something for everyone.

The festival returns to beautiful Gateway Park at 1300 Lee Highway at the foot of Key Bridge every Friday night at dusk beginning April 30 and ending September 3. People are encouraged to bring blankets and low chairs to picnic in the park before the show. Show up early for the pre-show 90s-themed games and prizes. The movies play rain or shine, but in extreme weather will be cancelled for the safety of our moviegoers.

The “I   the 90s” Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival builds on the success of the Rosslyn “I  the 80s” Film Festival which attracted more than 15,000 attendees during its 19-week run last year." says Cecilia Cassidy, Executive Director of the Rosslyn BID.

Rosslyn's Continental Modern Pool Lounge, located across the street from Gateway Park at 1911 N. Ft. Myer Drive, returns as a sponsor of the 2010 series. Continental will host 90s dance parties for the 21 and older crowd at the bar on May 7, May 28, June 4, July 30, August 20, and September 3.

Artisphere, Arlington’s new cultural center set to open 10.10.10, is also a sponsor. Arlington Cultural Affairs, with the support of the Rosslyn BID, is renovating the 62,000 square foot arts complex at 1101 Wilson Boulevard in the heart of Rosslyn. Tickets to upcoming Artisphere events will be given away as prizes at each movie.

The event is free and open to the public. No alcohol is allowed. The screening is just two blocks from the Rosslyn Metro and parking is available across the street from Gateway Park at the Atlantic Parking Garage for $3 at 1901 and 1911 N. Ft. Myer Drive after 6 pm. Enter the garage on N. Moore Street.
