Popular Annual Events Return to Bring Free Music, Shopping and Dancing to the Rosslyn Community
Rosslyn, VA – April 29, 2011 – The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) today announced that many of its most popular and best-attended summer events – including the Rosslyn Farmers Market, Lunchtime Concert Series and Restaurants and Rhythms – are returning again this summer. All of the events, which are free and open to the public, are supported by the Rosslyn BID and its partners.
“We’re delighted to offer a full, fun schedule of exciting events and experiences for the Rosslyn community,” said Cecilia Cassidy, Rosslyn BID executive director. “People from all over the metro area come to Rosslyn to enjoy these events each year. We want them to see for themselves the big changes happening here.”
The Rosslyn BID also recently announced the 2011 Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival – SNL in the Movies – which begins today at dusk with a screening of “Groundhog Day.” The Film Festival will be held in Gateway Park at 1300 Lee Highway. ROSSLYN FARMERS MARKET, every Thursday, May 12 - October 20
Right across the street from Cupid’s Garden Sculpture, the Rosslyn Farmers Market will b held every Thursday from May 12 through October 20. The market will offer Rosslyn residents, visitors and workers fresh foods and goods from regional vendors including bread and pastries, farm-fresh and organic produce, herbs and spices, exotic teas and specialty coffees, gourmet baked goods, and marinades and sauces. Monday Properties returns as a Rosslyn Farmers Market sponsor.
LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES, every Wednesday and Thursday
Rosslyn BID will offer again free outdoor concerts from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Wednesday and Thursday. The Thursday Lunchtime Concerts Series, which will be held from May 12 to October 20 at Wilson Boulevard and N. Oak Street, will entertain Rosslyn Farmers Market visitors as they shop. The Wednesday Lunchtime Concert series will run from June 1 to August 31 at the CentralSpace to CentralPlace plaza located at Wilson Boulevard and N. Moore Street. Local performers will provide music from a variety of genres including jazz, blues, funk, pop, folk and more.
Restaurants and Rhythms, each Sunday, Tuesday, & Friday in June & July
Restaurants and Rhythms will begin another season this June and will offer weekly performances inside three Rosslyn restaurants through July. On Sundays at PIOLA, Origem will put jazz on the menu. The Hyatt Arlington will serve up the blues on Tuesdays with the Mary Ann Redmond Duo. The Key Bridge Marriott’s Connexion Lounge will offer soulful vocals on Fridays with Carol Gaylor and Bruce Katsu.
