Rosslyn BID Appoints New Director of Communications

Carole Bernard Will Promote the Benefits of Living and Working in Rosslyn, Virginia

April 25, 2011 - Rosslyn, Va. – The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) announced that Carole Bernard has been named as its new director of communications.

Bernard, a Boston native, began her career in the public sector as a speechwriter for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and later as the deputy director of the Mayor’s Office of Business Services. She also worked for Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., the largest human service agency in New England as director of public information and The Enterprise Foundation as the public relations and marketing manager.

“Carole brings a wealth of communications, public relations and nonprofit management skills to this position,” said Rosslyn BID Executive Director Cecilia Cassidy. “We are delighted to have her join our team and to promote the wonderful benefits of Rosslyn, including our breathtaking river and landmark views. We look forward to Carole’s assistance in promoting this livable and walkable community.”

Prior to joining the Rosslyn BID, Bernard recently served as executive director of Northwest Neighbors Village in Chevy Chase, DC, where she expanded the operations of this nonprofit and grew its membership and volunteer bases significantly. She also has served as a communications professional for several Washington, DC-based nonprofits including the Paralyzed Veterans of America, National Minority AIDS Council, and the National Research Center for Women and Families.

Bernard received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Framingham State College in Massachusetts and a master’s degree from Boston University in journalism.
