Rosslyn BID Elects New Members to Board of Directors

New members bring their experience and knowledge to Rosslyn, VA

May 16, 2011 - Rosslyn, Va. – The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) today announced the election of 10 members to serve on the Rosslyn BID board of directors. Elections were held at its annual board of directors meeting on Thursday, May 12 at the Hyatt Arlington. The diverse experience and knowledge of the new board will ensure the continued efforts of the BID, as it seeks to make Rosslyn an exciting, urbane commercial center for its workers, residents and visitors.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back our re-elected members and our new member to the board, with all they have to offer the Rosslyn BID.” said Cecilia Cassidy, Rosslyn BID Executive Director. “As our community continues to transform, Rosslyn will capitalize on their experience as it moves to the next stage of development.”

Members re-elected for a second term on the Rosslyn BID Board of Directors include four members of the BID Executive Committee: BID President Stuart H. Miller, president of the Stuart H. Miller Company; BID Treasurer Kevin O’Tool, vice president of finance for WJLA-TV/News Channel 8; BID Secretary Linda Cogburn, vice president of property management and operations for Monday Properties; BID First Vice President Peter N. Greenwald, senior advisor at Penzance Companies.

Also re-elected were Leigh Carter, portfolio manager for Vornado/Charles E. Smith; Bryan Moll, development manager for The JBG Companies; Kip Laramie, president of Santa Fe Café; Gregory Raines, general manager of Holiday Inn Rosslyn; and Debby Ruffin, manager of administrative services for BAE Systems, Inc.

The newly-elected residential member is Peter W. Berk, a principal at Tyson’s Corner, Avison Young, who represents Waterview Residences.

The annual board meeting also featured guest speaker Richard Sarles, general manager and CEO of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, who addressed the ongoing challenges Metro faces in rebuilding a 35-year-old transit system. As part of the largest capital program since the system was built, Sarles said that Metro is investing $5 billion over the next six years in over 100 different projects to improve safety, customer service and reliability. He reiterated the need for continued funding from Metro’s federal and local jurisdictions and encouraged BID members to contact their elected officials in support of that goal.
