Rosslyn BID Joins Boeing & The Reading Connection for Backpack Campaign

Rosslyn, VA - The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) has partnered with Boeing and The Reading Connection to help collect backpacks and other school supplies for childrenin need.

The Reading Connection Books and Backpack Campaign strives to provide schoolchildren with new backpacks filled with school supplies. This year, a special effort is being made to match backpack size to kid size and provide appropriate supplies for each grade level. The organization is also working to include two new books in each backpack. The donation list includes:

• 24 #2 pencils • 5 colored folders • Box of markers
• Box of markers • 2 composition notebooks • Pair of scissors
• 3 pink erasers • Pencil case • Small pencil sharpener
• Glue stick • 2 books • Backpack

Those interested in making a donation may bring items to the collection box at the Rosslyn BID’s Wednesday Lunchtime Concerts held from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the July 14, July 21, and July 28 concerts. The concerts are held at “CentralSpace to CentralPlace,” a temporary public plaza in Rosslyn located at the corner of North Moore Street and Wilson Boulevard.

“The Rosslyn BID is pleased to join with Boeing, our Rosslyn Neighbor, and The Reading Connection to help area students who are in need in our community,” says Cecilia Cassidy, Executive Director of the Rosslyn BID.
