Rosslyn BID Sponsors Start-up of New Arlington Social Network
Release Date: Wednesday, March 4th 2009Rosslyn, VA - The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) is proud to be the founding sponsor of Creative Arlington, a proactive social network committed to growing Arlington's creative economy. The network is growing on the web at www.creativearlington.com and will have its first face-to-face meeting, Thursday, March 5 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Rosslyn at Continental Modern Pool Lounge at 1911 N. Ft. Myer Drive. Participants will hear about a plan to turn the former Newseum in Rosslyn into a Cultural Center.
“The Rosslyn BID shares Creative Arlington’s goals. Our latest customer satisfaction survey found that 42% of residents and 35% of workers support more arts-oriented programming in Rosslyn. Creative Arlington sets the stage for those kinds of creative community experiences to happen,” says Rosslyn BID Executive Director Cecilia Cassidy.
Creative Arlington provides both a virtual community and a corresponding real-life community of friends and colleagues who are involved in interesting things, interested in challenging issues, and who are willing to share ideas and increase collaboration. Its members are is committed to growing a creative community, and growing businesses that serve, hire, and leverage Arlington's talent and technology.
Ted Bilich, co-founder of Creative Arlington and a partner in the Washington DC office of Jones Day, an international law firm says, "It's about connecting the area's creative talent with its economic producers where each party realizes their greatest potential in benefitting Arlington's economy and culture. The initiative consists of events like networking mixers and professional ‘matchmaking’ services to build handpicked 'dream teams' of creatives for new projects that help make the county a top destination to live, work and play."
