Rosslyn Exhibit Opening at Artisphere to
Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Rosslyn Renaissance
Rosslyn Renaissance Hosts Exhibit at Artisphere’s Works-in-Progress Gallery
Highlighting Rosslyn’s Colorful Past and Vibrant Future

Rosslyn, Va. – February 17, 2011 – Rosslyn Renaissance has developed an exhibit about Rosslyn at the Works-in-Progress (WIP) Gallery at Artisphere, opening tomorrow, February 18 and running through March 13, 2011. The exhibit chronicles Rosslyn’s origins as a rural community in the 1800’s to the thriving metropolis it is today, through historical items and images, and renderings of developments coming soon.

The exhibit will showcase Rosslyn's unique urban landscape, and historical and recent growth through four primary displays highlighting development, community, transportation and Rosslyn Renaissance itself. Rosslyn Renaissance is a public/private partnership which plans for the urban design and development of the greater Rosslyn area, and celebrates its 20th anniversary of commitment to the community this year.

“We are delighted to offer Artisphere patrons a look into the origins of and future plans for Rosslyn through a unique, artistic display,” said Cecilia Cassidy, executive director of Rosslyn Renaissance and the Rosslyn BID. “Rosslyn continues to be one of the most sought after places to live, work and play in the larger metro area, and this exhibit will highlight all that the community is and will become, while reflecting on its humble beginnings.”

The Works-in-Progress Gallery is situated at the entrance to the Terrace Gallery, a 3,000 square foot arts space. The WIP Gallery investigates and exhibits works-in-progress from multiple creative disciplines and provides the public a window into the creative process. As Rosslyn itself is undergoing several significant developments that will transform its streets and skyline, the WIP gallery is the ideal space to showcase Rosslyn’s own work-in-progress and allow patrons a rare opportunity to experience a behind-the-scenes look at their community.

As part of the exhibit, Geoffrey Aldridge, Associate Public Art Projects Curator at Arlington Cultural Affairs will offer two lectures on public art on Friday, February 18 and Friday, March 4 at noon.

The exhibit is part of Rosslyn Renaissance’s “20 Events to Celebrate 20 Years”, which includes other upcoming events like the “Rooms With a View” lecture series, and is sponsored by: Monday Properties, The JBG Companies, Brookfield, Vornado, Gould Property Company, BAE Systems, Boeing, 1776 Wilson Blvd., Beacon Capital Partners, and the Rosslyn BID.

The Rosslyn exhibit is free and open to the public. Artisphere is located at 1101 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn, one block from the Rosslyn Metro station.
