Rosslyn is proud to be home to the Virginia location of Ben's Chili Bowl, the iconic U Street chili parlor that was opened in 1958 by newlyweds Ben and Virginia Ali. At that time, the couple used $5,000 to begin renovating a building at 1213 U Street. Built in 1910, it first housed a silent movie house called the Minnehaha Theater. Later, Harry Beckley, one of D.C.’s first black police detectives, converted it into a pool hall.

Ben's Chili Bowl's loyal followers enjoy the restaurant's famous chili, half smokes and milkshakes. We love getting the famous chili half-smoke, which has been on the menu since 1958. Grilled and served on a warm steamed bun with mustard, onions and Ben’s spicy homemade chili sauce.

You can't go wrong if you're looking for a fun and casual place to hang out!

Looking to try the Beyond Burger? These are available here (along with turkey burgers) made to order with a variety of condiment options including their vegetarian chili and hot dogs. But don't forget that Ben’s isn’t just a hot dog spot! They also have lunchtime sandwiches and salads available.
