General Information
The 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) traces its lineage back to the US Army's 1st Regiment, created on June 3, 1784.

Today the Regiment is made up of three battalions.

The 1st & 4th Battalions make up the the US Army's official ceremonial unit, and is based out of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA.

The 2nd Battalion is part of the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, and is based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
