Biking in Rosslyn

This trail is a hilly paved path that extends from the Mount Vernon Trail to the W&OD Trail near Falls Church, allowing you to access additional areas within Arlington on your bike!

Ride through the 18-mile paved trail that stretches from Theodore Roosevelt Island in Rosslyn to George Washington’s Mount Vernon and features waterfront views of the Potomac. The trail is a popular recreation source, with over one million pedestrians and bicyclists annually.

Don’t have a bike? No problem! Capital Bikeshare is an easy, affordable, and fun way to explore. With bikeshare racks around the neighborhood, just hop on a classic bike or e-bike and be on your way!

Whether you’re working at home or commuting to the office, celebrate active commuting at Bike to Work Day!  Every May, BikeArlington hosts a pit stop at Gateway Park in Rosslyn, where cyclists can stop for a free shirt, giveaways, and more while meeting fellow cyclists.

BikeArlington offers a comprehensive resource hub for information on biking in Arlington, including a Parking Project App that can help you locate bike racks near you, as well as a Comfort Level Map that numerically scores Arlington bicycle routes and trails based on pavement conditions, traffic volume, and other key factors.

If you’re riding to work in Rosslyn, several buildings in the neighborhood offer bike parking in parking garages, including 1911 N. Fort Myer Drive and 1812 N. Moore St. The Rosslyn Metro station also has fourteen bike racks, so you can park your bike there during your time in the neighborhood.

Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail supports the National Park Service in keeping the trail safe and welcoming for all users through trail maintenance and community events. They host a variety of volunteer opportunities and events, including bike rides through Arlington, like the popular Tulip Ride each April!
