Rosslyn’s Office Manager

Meet Office Manager Laura Doolan

Laura Doolan joined the Rosslyn BID in January 2021 and has been a crucial addition to the team ever since! Originally from Ireland, Laura’s background as a versatile administrator and her friendly face at the BID’s front desk has made us all a little more excited to return to the office, once it’s safe to do so. Get to know Laura!

Rosslynva.org: What’s your role at the Rosslyn BID?

Laura: As the Office Manager, I look after the administrative and organizational needs of the BID, and assist with bookkeeping. I’m also the first face you’ll see behind the front desk when you walk in our office door!

Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?

Laura: My perfect day definitely involves spending time with my family. I have two freshmen at home: my daughter, Saoirse, who’s a freshman in college and my son, Cillian, who is a freshman in highschool. My husband, kids and I love watching Everton (my favorite soccer team) play on TV. I’d love to go to a game one day!

Rosslynva.org: Who are your role models? Why?

Laura: My parents and my three sisters. My parents taught me what it means to be a hard worker, and to always be helpful and respectful. I have two older sisters and one who is younger. One lives close by, one in South Carolina and one that’s still back in Ireland. I know I can talk to them about anything and, no matter where they are on the map, they’ll always be there for me.

Rosslynva.org: What do you like best about your job?

Laura: While it’s still new, I’ve loved the variety of my work and the people. They have welcomed me with open arms, and I’m looking forward to having everyone back in the office one day!

Rosslynva.org: What’s your guilty pleasure?

Laura: That’s easy, Irish chocolate and soccer.

Rosslynva.org: What are you good at?

Laura: Organization. In previous roles, I’ve been in charge of the travel logistics for large groups of people, which required me to stay extremely organized while also teaching me to act on my feet when necessary. I also work well collaboratively with a team, and I’ve been told I have a skill for making people feel that they can always talk to me.

Rosslynva.org: What else should we know about you?

Laura: I grew up in a seaside town in Dublin, Ireland called Malahide, and although I’m now an American Citizen, I am very proud of my Irish ancestry. I have fond memories of spending days at the beach (pictured below) in the summer and swimming even if the water was freezing. I moved to the DMV in my 20s, but my husband and I are both Irish and with my sister and mother still across the Atlantic, Ireland will always be home!

Rosslynva.org: Any fun facts?

Laura: I spent three years touring with Riverdance as a Travel Coordinator! Life on the road can definitely be exciting, but my role orchestrating travel logistics for such a large group was often stressful and taught me to think on my feet. My daughter even joined us on tour when she was just six weeks old and quickly became the star of the show as everyone’s favorite “tour baby.” An exhausting time for mom and dad, but a blast for her!
