Beneath an elevated walkway at 1101 Wilson Blvd, the permanent art feature draws on local symbols such as the northern cardinal (Virginia's state bird), dogwood blossoms (Virginia's state flower), the Metro grid and Memorial Bridge. Designers Jeff Bade and Amy Eser of Exiles Creative Group wanted to provide a photo opportunity for the community.
The mural was commissioned by real-estate investment firm Beacon Capital Partners which owns The Towers at 1100 and 1101 Wilson Blvd.
