Details

To show their gratitude for American aid during and after World War II, the people of the Netherlands presented the United States with a carillon of bells in an open steel tower overlooking the Potomac River. The unique structure designed by Joost W.C. Boks in 1960 chimes every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and plays patriotic music twice daily. Free concerts are offered on Saturdays and national holidays from May through September.
