We're spreading the LOVE with you, and want you to share it with your love as well! Check out the "LOVEwork" letters, from Virginia Tourism, at Central Place Plaza. The letters remind us that "Virginia is for Lovers" after all! They will be out there through next Monday, June 29. Share the letters on social media, with hashtag #RosslynLOVE, for a chance at a $50 restaurant gift card!
Inclusive Love (and Pride) in Rosslyn
As Pride month began this year, protests broke out calling for justice in the case of George Floyd's death. The Rosslyn BID took a stance to declare that Black Lives Matter, and that we can’t fully make a neighborhood that is safe, clean and enjoyable for all if some members of our community are treated differently – and violently – because of the color of their skin.
We've adorned the Pride LOVE Letters with black and brown hearts. Philadelphia was one of the first cities to introduce a new Pride rainbow flag, with black and brown stripes, for its 2017 Pride celebrations. The added stripes are meant to call out communities of color who may have felt excluded from the larger LGBT community. June is also the month when Loving Day is celebrated, the day that commemorates the Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court Case that paved the way for interracial marriage across the United States. We hope that these letters can bring a pop of color, and a moment of reflection, to your walk through our neighborhood.
