Looking for some neighborhood fun? We've compiled a list of our favorite nearby activities for this much-loved season of sweaters, hearty food, dark beers and football. Enjoy!


1. Grab a brew and do the polka at our Oktoberfest Beer Garden

Thursday, October 27, Plaza on 19th (Corner of 19th + N. Moore Sts.)

Drop by Rosslyn's favorite gathering spot to enjoy Oktoberfest, featuring seasonal beer and wine and delicious flavors from neighborhood food trucks. Dance along to sensational live entertainment provided by the New York-based Polka Brothers, playing classic polka favorites and pop and rock gone polka. 2. Pick up Treats on the Streets in Rosslyn

Thursdays, October 13 + 20; Tuesday, October 25, 12-1:30PM

With that pleasing fall chill in the air, nothing is more satisfying than hot apple cider and a warm, sweet treat. Equipped with this knowledge, the Rosslyn BID is partnering with the delectable Mama's Donut Bites Food Truck to bring you free apple cider donuts and hot cider on several weekday afternoons in October. Stay tuned on our social media channels (@RosslynVA) and be the first to know where the truck will be! 3. Cheer on runners at the Marine Corps Marathon Finish Festival

Sunday, October 30, 8AM-4PM, U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial

Rosslyn is the proud home of the Finish Festival for the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon. Whether you're running in the marathon or the 10K, or just cheering on a friend, take advantage of the many activities going on here during race weekend. Finish Festival highlights include live music, a beer garden, booths and giveaways along Meade and Lynn Streets, Fort Myer and Fairfax Drives, and Wilson Blvd. Learn More

 

4. Soak up beautiful sounds at National Chamber Ensemble's "A Night in Vienna"

Saturday, October 22, 7:30PM, Rosslyn Spectrum, 1611 N. Kent St.

Up your culture quotient with this evening of wonderful chamber music performances that will transport you across the globe. Highlights include classics by Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert, including Schubert's "Die Forelle," sung by soprano Nancy Peery Marriott, along with the enchanting "Trout" Quintet and the passionate Piano Quartet in G minor by Brahms. 5. Go for a morning run at Teddy Roosevelt Island

Saturdays, 9AM, Theodore Roosevelt Island

Do you need help motivating yourself to go for a run on a weekend morning? Then join the Theodore Roosevelt Island Parkrun! The Parkrun is a free, timed, weekly 5K run that takes place every Saturday morning. The event is led by volunteers. All levels of runners are welcome. There is no cost for registering, but you must sign up in advance. Afterwards, runners recharge with a quick drink or a bite to eat at a nearby coffee shop. Learn More 

 

6. Check out the Arlington Farmers Market in Courthouse

Saturdays, 8AM-noon, N. 14th St. + Courthouse Rd.

Browse fresh, locally-grown produce and food using farm-fresh ingredients at the Arlington Farmers Market in Courthouse, one of the oldest farmers markets in the D.C. area. Live musicians and other local entertainers make it a fun, lively place to start the weekend. The market is adjacent to the Arlington County Courthouse Parking Lot at the intersection of N. Courthouse Rd. and N. 14th St. Parking is FREE in the garage below the nearby AMC movie theater. Learn More

 

7. Explore and enjoy fall foliage by bike

A weekend bike ride is a great way to explore and enjoy colorful fall foliage on Arlington's paved, off-street bike trails. As home to the Custis Trail, Rosslyn is especially well connected by bike, making it a great starting point for a number of bike rides of varying length and level of difficulty. It is also close to the beautiful Mount Vernon Trail, an 18-mile trail that runs along the Potomac River and terminates at George Washington's Mount Vernon. Learn More

 

8. Grab a cocktail at your favorite Rosslyn restaurant

Over the past few years, Rosslyn's restaurant scene has exploded with the addition of several new establishments serving great food, craft beers and one-of-a-kind cocktails. Sample seasonal brews at Continental or enjoy cocktails at Amuse, Barley Mac, Key Bridge Terrace (pictured) or Kona Grill, to name a few. 9. Attend A-SPAN's Open House + 25th Anniversary Celebration

Thursday, October 13, 6-8PM, 2020 14th St. N.

An award-winning nonprofit, A-SPAN is dedicated to ending homelessness in Arlington through direct outreach services including shelter, food, job assistance and permanent housing. Join them for their 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Homeless Services Center in Courthouse and learn how you can get involved. Special guest appearance by Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur David Guas of Bayou Bakery. Learn More

 

10. Adopt a pup at the Pints 4 Paws Beer Festival

Sunday, October 16, Courthouse Plaza

Head to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington's (AWLA) first-ever Pints 4 Paws beer festival for an afternoon of beer-tasting, music, food and activities. There will be samples of a variety of craft-brewed beers, live music, vendors’ booths and local food truck fare. You can mix and mingle with adoptable AWLA dogs, play games like bocce and cornhole, and parade your pup in a doggy costume contest. Learn more
