This iconic memorial is based on a Pulitzer-prize winning photograph by Joe Rosenthal, depicting marines raising the flag atop Mount Suribachi during World War II. Created by Felix W. de Weldon, Iwo Jima is the largest bronze sculpture in the world. The Marine Corps hosts sunset parades at the site every Tuesday from June through August.
