Rosslyn BID Contributes $100k to Support Small Businesses During COVID-19

Rosslyn BID is Also Supporting Local Businesses with #RosslynRewards Program, Rosslyn Restaurant Directory, and Virtual Programming

Rosslyn, VA – April 27, 2020 – Today, the Rosslyn BID announced that it will provide $100,000 in critical relief to Rosslyn small businesses as part of the Arlington County Small Business Emergency GRANT Program (Giving Resiliency Assets Near Term). The GRANT Program is designed to help small businesses – many of whom have been left behind in federal relief efforts – with grants of up to $10,000 for businesses with fewer than 50 employees.

The application period will open in early May, but the Rosslyn BID is encouraging businesses to sign up now to be notified when the process goes live and get important updates about the GRANT Program at arlingtoneconomicdevelopment.com/covid-19/grant-information.

“Collaboration at the local level and in neighborhoods is vital right now, and BIDs have important relationships with Arlington’s small businesses that are key to understanding exactly what they need,” said Telly Tucker, Director of Arlington Economic Development (AED). “The Rosslyn BID continues to be a valuable partner to AED with this new effort, and also in their own innovative programs that support local restaurants and retailers.”

“Our hearts are with our small businesses, including our restaurants and retailers, who have been the hardest hit during this crisis,” said Rosslyn BID President Mary-Claire Burick. “Their services are critical to our community, which is why we are proud to partner with Arlington County on this important program that will get much needed assistance directly into small businesses’ hands so they can continue to pay their employees and bills.”

The Rosslyn BID has been working closely with small businesses and restaurants to support their unique needs during COVID-19 by creating the #RosslynRewards program and Rosslyn restaurant directory. The program benefits restaurants and consumers by encouraging and rewarding people for frequenting Rosslyn restaurants for carry out or delivery.

The Rosslyn BID is fostering a virtual community through its online programming. Partnering with local fitness studios, gyms and the BID’s Operations Director, Victor Carcamo – everyone’s favorite Bootcamp coach – the Rosslyn BID has created a new resource to share wellness videos and free content that is accessible from home. Twice-weekly free games hosted by the BID help workers close out the workday or kick off virtual happy hour, where winners
can earn Rosslyn gift cards of up to $75. More details on wellness classes and trivia can be found here and here.
