Halloween Weekend Fun!
New Rosslyn Harvest Fest will bring the neighborhood live music, a craft market, trick-or-treating and more
This year, the Rosslyn BID is excited to introduce a brand-new event to the neighborhood: Rosslyn Harvest Fest. Over the course of Halloween weekend (October 27-28), we'll be pulling out all the stops to create a fun, memorable experience for adults and kids alike that will traverse several Rosslyn locations, including Gateway Park, Central Place Plaza, Continental Beer Garden and the Netherlands Carillon.
Friday is for rocking out
Festivities start Friday afternoon, October 27, at 4 p.m. Although all are welcome, this evening's activities are more geared toward grown-ups, and will feature an adult-focused scavenger hunt throughout Downtown Rosslyn that will include prizes and some pretty amazing giveaways, such as an Amazon Fire Tablet HD and wireless headphones. Meanwhile, you'll discover unique finds from more than 25 vendors at our craft market. Grab a seasonal brew and some delicious food at Continental Beer Garden, which will be offering a 25 percent discount for Harvest Fest brunch on Sunday afternoon, and host an open-to-the-public Halloween party on Friday night. Come in costume! You can also enjoy live music at Central Place Plaza by Trailer Grass Orchestra starting at 6:30 p.m. At 7, come hear the band Burnt Sienna in Gateway Park. There will also be outdoor beer gardens on Central Place Plaza and in Gateway Park, a professional Dia de Los Muertos face-painting activity and more.
Saturday is for hanging out
All adults are still welcome on Saturday, but it'll be a great day for parents and kids, in particular! The craft market at Central Place Plaza opens at 10 a.m. We'll also have a giant, inflatable corn maze in Gateway Park. Come check it out and see if you can find your way. And don't miss our magic show in Gateway Park at 10:30 that morning, starring Magic of Zain.
Come in costume on Saturday: We'll be giving out free Halloween treat baskets you can use to collect candy and other goodies on our special trick-or-treating route throughout the neighborhood. This is a great, safe activity for kids of all ages, but especially good for little ones who may not have much stamina to stay up late on Halloween night. End your day at the dogs and kids parades!
"We are so excited to be introducing Harvest Fest to Rosslyn this year," says Sophie Barral, former senior events manager for the Roslyn BID. "October is such a beautiful time of year to be outside enjoying the season with family and friends. What better, more convenient place to do it than right here in our own neighborhood? There will be so much going on, and admission to the festival is free, so it's a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy a variety of fun fall activities. We hope adults looking to have a good time with their friends will come out, as well as families with kids. There will be something for everyone, and we're really looking forward to showing you a good time!"
