Meet Rosslyn's Business Engagement Manager Emma Indingaro
Business Engagement Manager Emma Indingaro joined the Rosslyn BID in April 2018. A native of Swampscott, Mass., Emma now lives in Falls Church, Va., with plans to move to Capitol Hill in September. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Nutrition and a minor in Food Science.
Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?
Emma Indingaro: Waking up at 8 a.m., going for a run along the Potomac, and coming back to cook a nice big breakfast! After that, reading a book outside and doing some yoga in the evening. Tacos, guacamole and some Siete chips would make the evening complete!
Rosslynva.org: Who is your role model? Why?
EI: Hands down, my mom. She started an outdoor boot camp company in Arlington 15 years ago and it has continued to grow since. She is one of the strongest, bravest, most genuine women I know.
Rosslynva.org: What do you like best about your job?
EI: I love brainstorming cool and exciting partnership opportunities and seeing those come to life. I enjoy meeting new people and getting them excited about Rosslyn’s fun summer events as well!
Rosslynva.org: What has been your biggest accomplishment at the BID?
EI: Oh gosh—not much since I’m two months in! I’d say 10 lobby fairs in three weeks. It’s been busy but very fulfilling and I’ve enjoyed keeping Rosslyn businesses in the know and engaged with our community.
Rosslynva.org: What’s your guilty pleasure?
EI: Cookies and peanut butter! Even better when I make them myself!
Rosslynva.org: What’s your philosophy toward work?
EI: Work hard, play hard.
Rosslynva.org: What are you good at?
EI: Motivating and getting people excited
Rosslynva.org: What do you hate to do?
EI: Cleaning dishes
Rosslynva.org: What’s your fondest memory from childhood?
EI: I have a horrible memory. I barely remember my childhood. I’d have to say trips to Cape Cod during the 4th of July were always really fun.
Rosslynva.org: Anything else we should know about you?
EI: I love all fruit. If I could eat only fruit for the rest of my life I probably would! One of my favorite activities is to go apple or berry picking and to make a healthy dessert with them.
In my spare time, I teach boot camp classes for BbG Fitness and I design merchandise for a spin studio in Baltimore called Rev Cycle. I enjoy staying busy! Anything fitness- or nutrition-related I will probably have a strong interest in! I love to cook and I’m always trying new, healthy recipes. A favorite recipe I make all the time is this black bean burger. I am always saving recipes from the Detoxanista, Minimalist Baker, Oh She Glows, and The Roasted Root.
TV show: The Americans
Book: Sarah’s Key
Movie: Pride and Prejudice (the 2005 version)
Website: Minimalist Baker – she’s a blogger I read daily! I love her recipe for gluten-free banana bread.
