Imagining the possibilities
Meet Rosslyn's Administrative Assistant PJ Sagan
Administrative Assistant PJ Sagan joined the Rosslyn BID in April 2018. A native of Atlanta, PJ now lives in Arlington with his wife and weird hairless cat. He graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw State) with a degree in New Media Arts.
Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?
PJ Sagan: Start with a hearty breakfast (usually biscuits and bacon). Spend a lazy morning watching TV or playing video games. In the afternoon, a good Dungeons and Dragons session with friends. Then, end the day taking my wife up to the roof of our apartment building and grilling some steaks.
Rosslynva.org: Who is your role model? Why?
PJ: The late Monty Oum. For those unfamiliar, Monty was one of the greatest action animators of our time, and embodied all the best traits of such: hard work, diligence, a dedication to his craft, and still somehow finding time to balance his work and life.
Rosslynva.org: What do you like best about your job?
PJ: Probably the variety. I get to work a little bit with everyone in the office, and often won’t be doing the same thing from one day to the next. Some people like routines but I grow bored with them, so the constant switching keeps me on my toes and keeps work fun.
Rosslynva.org: What’s your guilty pleasure?
PJ: YouTube. I spend a lot of time watching people play games and listening to people play D&D. I usually have a Critical Role or TFS at the Table on in the background while I’m working.
Rosslynna.org: What are you good at?
PJ: Listening and interpreting. I’m very good at taking something someone is trying to say and putting it into simpler, easy-to-understand terms.
Rosslynva.org: What’s your fondest memory from childhood?
PJ: Playing outside with my best friend CR. My dad made the two of us wooden swords and we would go outside and pretend we were on grand adventures. Imagination is one of the childhood traits I think too many adults have lost, and I hold onto mine fondly.
Band: Florence + the Machine
TV Show: Young Justice
Book: Do comics count? Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye and Jason Aaron’s Thor: God of Thunder are probably my favorite reads. I’ll also read anything with Doctor Strange in it.
Movie: Howl’s Moving Castle
Color: Tied between purple and orange
Pastime: Dungeons & Dragons! I also like video games if I can’t get a group together.
