Meet Engagement Manager Annie Baldauf
Engagement Manager Annie Baldauf joined the Rosslyn BID in August 2019. A native of Erie, Pa., she now lives in the Cherrydale neighborhood of Arlington with her husband, Dan. She graduated from American University with a bachelor’s degree in art history and a minor in French.
Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?
Annie Baldauf: Waking up early on a beautiful day and going for a long run through Arlington into the District. After resting up, I’d pull together a fun lunch and have a picnic lunch on the lawn in front of the Netherlands Carillon bell tower with my husband. We love watching the planes flying to and from DCA. Then we’d go to the National Gallery and we’d explore the Italian Renaissance wing of the museum. I always make a point to spend time in front of Raphael’s “Alba Madonna.” For dinner we’d go to All Purpose, my favorite pizza place. Then we would just wander through the city until it was time to head home.
Rosslynva.org: Who is your role model? Why?
AB: I have a lot of people in my life whom I greatly admire — family, friends, past teachers. Right now, I have to say that Carli Lloyd is my role model. She embodies perseverance. Her dedication and grit inspire me to push just a little further even when I think I can’t. She never gives up and always puts in a 110 percent effort.
Rosslynva.org: What do you like best about your job?
AB: I love having the opportunity to build relationships and engage with my community. My position at the BID allows me to do both things all day, every day, from welcoming new businesses to Rosslyn with neighborhood tours and awesome Rosslyn swag to celebrating the accomplishments of current businesses through special events. There are 1,000+ businesses and 20,000+ employees in Rosslyn, so the relationships and connections are endless. Nurturing connections in our community makes for a stronger and better Rosslyn.
Rosslynva.org: What do you hate to do?
AB: Having nothing to do … I love being busy. I am always doing something whether it’s at home (cooking, reading a good book, organizing the closet) or being out and about (going for a run, meeting friends for dinner, taking a walk around the neighborhood).
Band: Belle & Sebastian
Website: King Arthur…they have great baking recipes…savory, sweet, everything. I also like Smitten Kitchen for cooking inspiration.
Movie: I love Nancy Meyer’s movies: “Father of the Bride One and Two,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “It’s Complicated.” “Forrest Gump” is up there too.
Book: My most recent favorite novel is “Where the Crawdads Sing.” My all-time favorite novel is “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
TV show: We’ve been watching a lot of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel lately.
