Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?
Kesi Lumumba: The perfect day would be to work out first thing, then go for breakfast at Baked & Wired with my besties, then enjoy a day exploring the city.
Rosslynva.org: Who are your role models?
KL: My role models are all the strong women in my life: my mom, big sister and best friends. They've all shown me how to grow up with grace and strength.
Rosslynva.org: What do you like best about your job?
KL: My favorite part of my job is being able to learn about urbanism and how important it is today. It's cool learning how we create a sense of space in our neighborhood and how we are a part of a global movement.
Rosslynva.org: What has been your biggest accomplishment at the BID?
KL: My biggest accomplishment I would say is putting together a presentation for the Virginia Statewide Neighborhood conference. Our president gave the presentation, but I got to attend and participate in the discussion of transforming a commercial district into a mixed-use urban development.
Rosslynva.org: What's your guilty pleasure?
KL: My true crime podcasts. I love listening and trying to figure out motives.
Rosslynva.org: What's your philosophy toward work?
KL: My philosophy toward work is to work as often as I can as a team member. I like fitting myself in the middle and being helpful.
Rosslynva.org: What are you good at?
KL: I'm good at working methodically and calmly. I'm also a good listener.
Rosslynva.org: What do you hate to do?
KL: I hate shoveling snow. I don't have to do it here very often but growing up that was a chore I liked to leave to my brother.
Rosslynva.org: What's your fondest memory from childhood?
KL: My fondest memory from growing up was the time I spent with my siblings after school. We got into silly fights, did homework and hung out. It was always fun.
