Rosslynva.org: What does your perfect day look like?
Michelle Tierney: A nice hearty breakfast, then getting outside for a hike or activity with the kids or a jog on my own. Then, seeing where the day takes us. In the afternoon, I like reading a book while the kids nap and then getting outside again before dinner.
R: What do you like best about your job?
MT: The diversity of stakeholders that we work with and the fact that no two days are the same. I also love the vibrancy of cities and urban areas. These days, Rosslyn is becoming just that.
R: What has been your biggest accomplishment at the BID?
MT: Transitioning from operations to building out a collection of resources for the brokerage community
R: What’s your guilty pleasure?
MT: Ice cream! The good stuff like Ben & Jerry’s or Häagen-Dazs
R: What are you good at?
MT: Connecting the dots. A lot of times a connection between pieces of information or multiple interested parties is just the thing that needs to happen.
R: What’s your fondest memory from childhood?
MT: Traveling out West to the National Parks with my family and extended backpacking trips in the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. I also traveled a lot as a young adult.
R: Any other fun facts about you?
MT: I’ve been to six of the seven continents and I have to say Antarctica is not on my bucket list. As a young adult, I loved spending time traveling around the world as much as I could before becoming more settled with a family. I can’t wait to take our kids on family adventures.
TV show: The Americans
Book: Up in the Old Hotel by Joseph Mitchell
Movie: Tough one. I love movies with an escape, heist or other puzzles like Shawshank Redemption, Thomas Crown Affair or the Jason Bourne movies.
Food: Chicken tortilla soup topped with avocado, and if margaritas are in the house, all the better!
