Top chefs deliver a twist on office catering
HUNGRY is a Rosslyn-based catering company offering exclusive access to a large roster of top chefs
Brothers Eman and Shy Pahlevani are no strangers to Rosslyn: In 2012, they founded the world’s leading mobile safety platform LiveSafe, headquartered at 1400 Key Boulevard. The brothers worked hard to establish that company, building it from a startup to a thriving business with more than 40 employees.
As they grew, they started offering catered lunches to employees every Friday to foster team-building and share their love for food. However, the Pahlevani brothers quickly realized that it wasn’t always easy to get quality food. And they found themselves ordering the same routine dishes. Always looking to innovate, they wondered if there could be a better model for office catering. Inspired by their own experience, they embarked on a new venture called HUNGRY.
HUNGRY caters to clients who love quality and choice when it comes to cuisine. The Pahlevani brothers created a shared economy of a top chef network. They selected 60 chefs from a talent pool of more than 700 applicants. Each chef focuses on a few dishes specific to their training or background. As a result, clients can order cuisine that spans the globe. So, they can try something new each time they order HUNGRY. The menus never get stale, and the ingredients are seasonal, so there’s something to suit everyone.
"Employees want variety, and that's what we offer," says Laura Medina, director of corporate catering. "We have a large network of chefs who all work under the HUNGRY brand, but our clients deal with the same account manager each time they order from us, so their relationship with HUNGRY is consistent. We learn each client's preferences and can help them build customized menus that work for their team or for specific events."
On HUNGRY's distinguished roster are chefs who have worked at the French Embassy, the White House, and the prestigious Taj Mahal Resort. There's even a James Beard Award-winning chef and a three-time Chopped Champion. Cuisine choices include everything from Peruvian chicken, Indian kathi rolls, and Korean bulgogi beef to chicken parmesan, Maine lobster salad, and gourmet vegan entrees.
With an eye on expansion, HUNGRY is getting ready to launch an online ordering system and app for office managers that makes it even easier to order and serve delicious meals daily. An office admin can input their office order details and share any dietary restrictions. The easy online ordering system allows them to pick their favorite chefs and cuisine types. HUNGRY guarantees delicious food from a top chef will be delivered on-time and ready-to-eat.
HUNGRY provides free tastings upon request for companies and teams of more than 40 people, so if you have more than 40, contact them at 571-429-4705. Some of their recurring customers include Twitter, AOL, Hilton, Sotheby's, Deloitte, Cooley, 1776, MakeOffices and WeWork.
